Dreaming of Competing in a Real Beach Volleyball Tournament?
Whether you’re brand new to competition or just thinking about taking the leap – it’s easier than you think!
Follow these simple steps, and you’ll soon be ready to step into the sand and play your first tournament.
1️⃣ Get a Competition License & Join a Club
To compete in beach volleyball tournaments in Sweden, you need a competition license, which is issued through a registered club.
If you want to compete and have The Beach as your home club, you can become a member of The Beach Volley Clubfor only 350 SEK per year. A competition license is included if you want one – but it is not registered automatically. You must apply for it yourself by emailing tavling@08beach.com.
⚠️ Important: License registration is handled manually and can take a few days. Be sure to apply well in advance! Reaching out the day before a registration deadline creates unnecessary stress for our license coordinator – and you risk missing the deadline if the process isn’t completed in time.

2️⃣ Find a Tournament That Suits You
Beach volleyball is for everyone – and so are the tournaments!
There are competitions for all levels:
⭐ SBT 1* – Entry-level events featuring both beginners and experienced players who still love to compete. A great place to learn the format and meet players with a wide range of skills and ambitions.
⭐⭐ SBT 2* – For players with some competitive experience who want to take the next step.
⭐⭐⭐ SBT 3* – High-level tournaments with elite players. Many of Sweden’s top athletes train at The Beach, so it’s not unusual to see national team players in action!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ SBT 4–5* – For Sweden’s very best players.
In addition, there are Mixed and Junior tournaments – perfect for those looking for a more relaxed atmosphere or age-based competition.

The Beach is a proud and active part of Swedish Volleyball!
Both the women’s national team coach Mattias Magnusson and the men’s coach Rasmus Jonsson are based at our facility.
Everyone is welcome to join our club, but if you live elsewhere, we’re happy to help you find a beach volleyball club near you. With some luck, there’s a local club offering training and competitions close to home. If you’re unsure, contact Svensk Volleyball and they’ll guide you!
